John L. Hensey School Receives Academic Improvement Award

John L. Hensey School was awarded  a 2013 Illinois Honor Roll – Academic Improvement Award!

This award honors 125 schools across the state that have posted substantial gains over the course of the previous three years. The criteria for Academic Improvement Awards in 2013 are substantial and entail a school providing the following improved marks for students tested:

  • Show improvement of at least 7.5 points in state test scores in both reading and mathematics between 2012 and 2013; or
  • Show an improvement of at least 15 points in state test scores in both reading and mathematics between 2011 and 2013; and
  • Show an upward trend in state test results.

This is quite an honor for the students and staff of John L. Hensey School. The Illinois Honor Roll program recognizes three types of improving and excellent schools with corresponding awards for Spotlight Schools, Academic Improvement, and Academic Excellence. John L. Hensey School received a similar distinction in 2006.
