Dear 8th-grade parents/guardians,
As we are approaching the end of the school year, we are starting to look ahead to summer school and the fall semester. I'm sure your student is excited to complete eighth grade and we are looking forward to seeing them as incoming freshmen. If your student is interested in enrolling in summer school, we are offering several courses online. Attached you will find detailed information about the dates for attendance, courses offered, fees, and how to register.
It is important to consider your student's readiness for a condensed summer school schedule. This will be their first introduction to a high school course, and a full semester of material is covered in about five weeks. The courses are also offered online, so it is very important that students are motivated to participate remotely.
If you are interested in enrolling for summer school, the registration will be available May 15 - May 25, 2020.
If you have any questions about the courses offered or what to expect, please contact me or the school counselor assigned to your last name. We look forward to a successful summer school session and welcoming the incoming freshmen this fall.
Sincerely,
Karen Stevens
WCHS Principal

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 provides the Secretary of Agriculture authority to approve a State agency plan for temporary emergency standards of eligibility and levels of benefits under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008.
What does this mean?
.
.
.
Children ages 3 to 17 and ages 18 to 22 (if in high school), who have temporarily lost access to free or reduced price school meals due to the COVID-19 pandemic related school closures are eligible for Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) SNAP allotments equal to the (daily meal costs) x (number of school days in the month) $3.50 lunch + $2.20 breakfast = $5.70 daily meal cost per child.
.
.
.
All children that would receive a free or reduced price meal if school was in session, even if a district wide eligibility school, are eligible for P-EBT regardless of income or citizenship.
.
.
.
Active SNAP households do not need to apply for P-EBT benefits and do not need to be contacted about the benefit. Existing case information will be used to automatically issue benefits when appropriate.
